Expressing an energy within through abstract and fantasy art.

About

I've returned to the enchanting region of Yorkshire after a 12-year journey in Vietnam, where I developed my skills as an artist and gallerist! This transformative experience reshaped my outlook, enriched my colour palette, and inspired me to become the more adventurous artist who has rediscovered aspects of her roots during the serene stillness of the global Covid-19 lockdown. During this time, I had the precious opportunity to delve deeply into the mythologies that underpin our cultures. From Confucianism to Celtic legends, Aboriginal dreaming to Chinese horoscopes, and the rites of prehistory, I gained insights into how folklore, traditions, and landscapes shape our identities. In our increasingly mobile and nomadic lives, it’s comforting to carry tokens of our identity that remind us of our values and philosophies. I also developed a newfound passion for endangered species and the preservation of rainforests. While the faithful often carry symbols of their religion wherever they go, how do those with alternative value systems convey their personal philosophies? One avenue might be found in abstract expressionism and fantasy art. While I still enjoy sketching landscapes and painting the occasional portrait, I feel a growing need to explore deeper, more soulful, and earthy themes. Over millennia, we evolved to adapt and thrive on this planet we share with other magnificent creatures and plant life, the distractions of the industrial revolution and modern economics have pulled us away from our true focus. It is crucial that we return our attention to the environments that nurture all living beings, enabling them to flourish and find contentment; otherwise, we risk our own extinction.
