Some of the most intriguing landscapes I have ever visited are those that are criss-crossed with bridges, flyovers, ferries, tunnels and escalators. Venice, airports, Saigon, London, Bruges, Amsterdam, underground transit areas. They are magical, confusing, claustrophobic, overwhelming, secret, whispering, thundering and always unfamiliar.

This is the first of a series that has been developed from my love of maps.
