In the East Neuk of Fife, in Scotland, there is a beautiful country house garden with a large, walled kitchen garden and a wood of willowy trees straddling Cambo burn that tumbles down to a pebbly beach on the North Sea coast.
Walking down the hill through this woodland is one of my favourite Fife walks on a sunny day when the dappled light makes everything glow.
The border on this painting is created by drawing into wet paint to create a two tone frieze of Pictish and Scottish cultural symbols to give context to this gentle landscape.
