2/6 Art stirs your emotions

Art possesses a remarkable ability to evoke a diverse array of emotions. A good work of art can take you to other places and times, inspire hope, or even protest. In those moments, our consciousness can forge new connections or rekindle dormant feelings.

We often acknowledge music's power to influence our emotions. We can easily discern whether a classical piece expresses joy or sorrow, love or loss, a call for patriotism, or a moment for introspection. Similarly, art can resonate with our subconscious. As humans, we naturally seek meaning or something recognizable in everything we perceive. We relate to the pain, poetry, and love expressed in the demeanor of others depicted in figurative art.

In the realm of abstract art, we also strive to uncover hidden meanings. Although abstract art can sometimes feel as challenging to connect with as modern jazz , we still attempt to engage with the underlying messages through rhythms, forms, harmony, and colors. While religious art has traditionally offered comfort and meaning, contemporary art opens up a broader spectrum of emotions, helping us to better understand ourselves.

At my recent exhibition, ‘WILD & FREE,’ many visitors remarked that they felt uplifted by the artwork, sensing the JOY radiating from my small paintings and embroideries.

Creating a personal space, for yourself, filled with meaningful artworks will always help to balance your emotions and nurture your soul.
