1, Creative problem solving

Have you ever walked into a room and sensed something was missing, as if it was yearning for colour, balance and soul? It might be time to awaken to the transformative power of art and discover why it deserves a place in your life. Art goes beyond simple decoration; it can act as a mirror in which you see things more clearly and it can be the catalyst for change you have been seeking.

Author, Rex Murphy said ‘All art aspires to the condition of music”

By this, he was expressing how something happens between our own consciousness and music. Music moves us to dance because something about the rhythms resonates with our bodies and that movement is almost irresistible. Music triggers memories of people, places and events. Some kind of connectedness between our bodies and the music unites us and each time we hear that refrain, we are triggered once more.

This also happens with good art. We talk about art 'speaking to us' as if something connects between our consciousness and the intention of the artist. In this way, the mind finds a place to rest, to be transported as we consider what we are seeing. Momentarily, the subconscious mind is triggered and therein a seed of creativity germinates.

Whatever problem, whatever project requires you to take a new approach can acquire the new clarity you were seeking. By surrounding yourself with good art (and I don’t mean trendy supermarket prints) you cultivate a personal environment where your creativity can truly flourish.
